Posted by Kate | Posted in Podcasts | Posted on 02-03-2009

Welcome to our Episode 27 of our podcast in which we talked about . . .

* our current WIP’s and other knit-related stuff
o Slouchy Cardigan
o White River Alpaca’s Spring Alpaca Event (choose your own fleece)!
o Kate’s wheel
o Antifreeze
o Endpaper Mitts
o Socks of Kindness
o Hourglass Sweater
o Green Croft Farm
o Heere Be Dragone Shawl and Flight of Fancy- by Sharon Winsauer

In the second segment we talked about our knitting with charts . . .

How to Read a Chart

* For flat knitting, usually odd numbered rows are read right to left and even numbered rows are either omitted from the chart because they’re all purls, or are read left to right.
* For knitting in the round, read all rows right to left
* Don’t assume! Look at the pattern for any special instructions (remember Kate’s cabled slippers?).

Keeping Track with a Chart

* Pattern Tamers
* Highlighter tape
* Highlighters
* The old-fashioned way – pencils!
* Magnet boards

Making Your Own Charts

* Graph paper
* Knit Foundry software
* Microsoft Word or Excel or OpenOffice
* Knitting fonts
* WendyKnits’ Designer Tutorial
* Free Chart Maker
* Knit Pro
* Stitch Alphabet

We closed the podcast by . . .
