Episode 7 – Unexpected Knitting Gadgets

Welcome to our Episode 7 of our podcast in which we talked about upcoming events such as:

Annie Modesitt classes at The Studio in Kansas City, May 16-18

* The Studio’s bus trip to Stitches Midwest, August 21-24
* Free Breakfast Fridays at the Freestanding Chick-fil-A on Glenstone Ave. in Springfield, MO during April and May

In the second segment we talked all about our favorite knitting gadgets, including those not made specifically for knitting . . .

* clear makeup bags from Wal-Mart to hold your tools
* measuring tapes from your local dollar store
* toothbrush holders or pencil cases for dpn’s, and other travel containers for stitch markers, safety pins, etc.
* yarn cutters – try using a letter opener instead
* bead cases from Wal-Mart or Hobby Lobby (similar to the one on Grumperina’s blog )
* magnet boards from teacher supply stores
* Bass Pro Shops – fishing line “measurer” (we don’t know the technical term) to measure yarn
* postal scale for weighing yarn
* plastic sleeves and binders for patterns
* Use a Food Saver to seal ziplock bags down the middle
* make your own row counter bead bracelet
* Knitting in Plain English by Maggie Righetti
* Look at diaper bags, camera bags, or travel bags as alternatives to knitting bags
